Fatehabad: The change in weather gave people relief from the heat, but rain became a problem for city residents. There was waterlogging across Bhuna town. The waterlogging in the city was so severe that it became difficult for people to leave their homes. Overflowing water in the towns caused trouble for the townspeople. Following the waterlogging in Bhuna town due to continuous heavy rains from September 23 to 25 last year, the municipal officials had promised to relieve the people from the waterlogging in the future, but the rains ruined the municipality’s arrangements. Though the civic body spent hundreds of rupees trying to deal with the rainwater by squeezing the combined pipeline of about three ponds, the drainage system was compromised for 25 mm of rain.
The rain that started due to sudden weather changes led to waterlogging. In such a situation, waterlogging occurred at other places including Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park, Nehru Park area, Uklana Road, Anaj Mandi, Market Committee Office, Khairi Chowk, the city’s model town, and waterlogging Penetrated into low-lying homes and flooded streets so much that people had to struggle with transportation problems. Water entered the homes of many people in District No. 6. As a result, the household items were destroyed. On one side it was constantly raining and on the other side people were constantly struggling with waterlogging. Throughout the day, municipal officials and employees worked to drain water. On the other hand, municipal secretary Jatindra Sharma said that wherever waterlogging was reported, a team was sent there and arrangements were made to drain the water. Road construction work is underway in some parts of the city, meaning people had to contend with waterlogging at times due to the rain. Soon the water drainage system was repaired.
