The Hansi CIA Forest Police team found counterfeit shoes from brands including Reebok, Adidas and Nike when they searched a shoe showroom in Badsi Gate on Wednesday. The CIA team recovered 3,654 fake pairs of shoes from the godown built in the showroom during the raid. The fake shoes were sold by the showroom owner to small retailers in Hansi, Hisar and many other cities. The CIA team confiscated the fake shoes found in the showroom and filed a case against the showroom owner under various sections including copyright law and fraud and arrested him. The police will try to remand the arrested defendants by bringing them before the court on Thursday.
CIA chief Hasin Khan provided information on the case and said Hisar’s investigative team Liegeest had received information that counterfeit branded shoes were being sold on a large scale in Hansi. Company official Surendra Arora said he kept an eye on this store for about a month to fully investigate the matter. After meeting SP Nitika Gehlot, she was briefed on the whole matter and on her orders, the CIA team searched the Vardhman Shoe Company showroom inside Barsi Gate. And during the raid, a huge amount of counterfeit Reebok, Adidas and Nike shoes was seized from the showroom. The CIA team arrested shopkeeper Deepak Jain by taking possession of the shoes found in the showroom.
Company employee Surendra Arora said showroom operator Deepak Jain used to sell these shoes in retail stores in Hansi, Hisar, Fatehabad and many other cities. By being sold by big companies, the shoes were sold at cheap prices. The company became suspicious when it saw that the sales of these branded shoes in the showrooms of these companies were continuously declining and counterfeit branded shoes were being sold indiscriminately in the market. Upon doing some research, they found out about the showroom.
Haseen Khan, in charge of CIA One, gave information on the case and said that Deepak Jain has been taken into custody and will be brought before the court. He informed that showroom operator Deepak Jain has been taken into custody and will be remanded in custody by appearing in court tomorrow and efforts are being made to obtain all information while in custody.
