Sonipat: The District Control Committee approved the legalization of 32 illegal colonies

Sonipat News:The District Level Scrutiny Committee (DLSC) approved the regularization of 32 illegal colonies that fall under the purview of the District Town Planner. Additional Deputy Commissioner Ankita Chowdhary, who chaired the DLSC meeting, issued strict instructions to concerned officials to give serious consideration to the standards set for regularizing illegal colonies.

A DLSC meeting was held at the Small Secretariat on Friday, chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Ankita Chaudhary, who said that taking July 1, 2022 as the baseline date, swift steps had been taken to regularize illegal colonies. He shared that 209 illegal colonies were identified in the district. Of these 130 illegal colonies, the local government, municipality and municipal council are to be legalized.

At the DLSC meeting, an extensive discussion was held on the legalization of 32 of the 79 illegal colonies identified by the committee. Of these 32 colonies, 25 illegal colonies are in Sonipat, 1 illegal colony in Gohana, and 6 illegal colonies in Gannaur Subdivision. Additional Deputy Commissioner Ankita Chowdhary agreed to the approval of 32 illegal colonies presented at the DLSC meeting. At the same time, he instructed the affected Tehsildar-Naib Tehsildars to submit the verification report for further processing within three days. In addition, he ordered that the report on the remaining 47 colonies identified for regularization by DLSC should also be submitted soon. District City Planner Naresh Kumar, Tehsildar Jivendra Malik, Naib Tehsildar Pramod Kumar and Naib Tehsildar Ankit and other concerned officials attended the meeting.

A committee was formed for 79 colonies

The remaining 79 colonies fall under the purview of the District Town Planner, which the DLSC was put in place to regulate. In the DLSC, the Deputy Commissioner was appointed Chair and the District Urban Planner was given Member (Coordinator) responsibilities. The DLSC includes seven other officers, including Zilla Parishad CEO, District Development and Panchayat Officer, PWD (B&R) Chief Engineer, Ministry of Health Chief Engineer, District Fire Department Officer and Panchayati Raj and Tehsildar Chief Engineer.
