Sonipat: The accused, who fled after killing an STD operator and TV mechanic and his wife at a house near Murthal Adda, was arrested by the STF-Palwal team after 21 years. The arrested accused is originally identified as Vinod Mandal from Heengana Aurai village in Araria district of Bihar. The defendant and his brother murdered the couple. STF handed over the accused to Sonipat city police station. The police take the defendant into custody and interrogate him.

DSP STF Palwal Yashwant Yadav said that Inspector Anil Chhillar, appointed in his team, received some leads about the double murder case that took place 21 years ago in Sonipat. He had received information that Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Nangal Khurd village in Sonipat, had informed the Sonipat city police station on January 17, 2002 that his brother Rajesh was living with his wife Neelam near Murthal Adda in Sonipat. In addition to managing sexually transmitted diseases, he was also a television repairman. On January 17, 2002, the bodies of Rajesh and Neelam were found in their house. He was murdered by being tied with a rope and hit on the head.

The police then registered a murder case against the unknown man. Later, police investigation revealed that Vinod Mandal and his brother, originally from Heenagana Aurai village in Araria district of Bihar and living on rent in their neighborhood, were missing. Suspicion was raised against him. However, no evidence of him could be found. A reward of Rs 25,000 has been withheld for the arrest in this case. On receiving the feedback, Inspector Anil Chhillar took action and arrested Vinod from the bus stop of Gamdiya village in Madhepura district of Bihar. The defendant’s brother is being investigated. The accused was handed over to the city police station.

Accused Vinod did not use a mobile phone

Inspector Anil Chhillar said that Vinod, the accused arrested in the murder case, was not using his mobile phone. Information about this came from their information system. After that he was caught. Meanwhile, city police station in-charge Devendra Kumar said that the accused in the murder case was caught after 21 years. The defendant is interrogated while in custody so that the reasons for the murder can be uncovered.
