Murder case: Seven convicts sentenced to life for killing youth in Sonepat, read full case

The court found the seven accused involved in the murder of a youth in the Sadar Gohana police station area guilty. The Judge of the District and Session Court, Dr. Sanjeev Arya, has sentenced the perpetrators to life imprisonment. In addition, all offenders were fined five thousand rupees each. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional two months’ imprisonment. Three defendants have died while the case is pending.

On April 20, 2017, Jitendra, a resident of Bhainswal Kalan village, lodged a complaint with Sadar Police Station Gohana that his older brother Praveen aka Bittu was lying on the bunk during the morning meeting with cousin Virendra. He was also present on the streets at the time. Meanwhile, about 10 attackers on bicycles entered the room and killed Praveen by firing bullets at him. The attackers had fled the spot. Jitendra had said that he could not identify the attackers. Sadar Police Station Gohana Police had registered a murder case against the unknown man on the report of Jitendra’s brother.

Around ten days after the incident, Panipat’s SIT had arrested Samalkha Pradeep aka Sonu, Virendra aka Binder and Ankit from Bhainswal Kalan village with illegal weapons. During the interrogation he had uncovered the case of the murder of Praveen from his village. Afterwards, the Sadar Police Station and the Gohana Police arrested the three suspects with a release order. At the same time, the police also arrested Sumit from the village of Katwal for the murder of Praveen. The defendants then gave the names of their other accomplices during interrogation. Thereafter, the police arrested Yogesh aka Mohit and Ravi aka Dhola from Bhainswal Kalan Village and Rakesh aka Gokhi and Sneh aka Tinku from Giwana Village in the Praveen murder case. During a police interrogation, the accused testified that Praveen used to fight with Pradeep aka Sonu and his village father and that he insulted them. He was friends with Sonu. Because of this, Praveen was murdered along with Sonu. Later, Vikas aka Vicky from Rukhi Village and Aditya from Gumana Village were also arrested in the case. During the trial, the main defendants, Pradeep aka Sonu and Ravi aka Dhola, were murdered. The accused Aditya also died. After hearing the case and testimony from witnesses, the court sentenced the seven defendants. The court of ASJ Dr. Sanjeev Arya, after hearing the verdict, sentenced Virendra aka Binder, Sumit, Ankit, Sneh aka Tinku, Rakesh aka Gokhi, Yogesh aka Mohit and Vikas aka Vicky. The court sentenced all seven convicts to life imprisonment. All offenders were fined Rs 5,000 each.
