Jind news:A mahapanchayat comprising 23 khaps from across the district was organized at Jalalpur Kalan village in Jind district on Sunday under the chairmanship of Naugama Khap chief Suresh Balbalpur. The Mahapanchayat demanded to amend the Hindu Merit Act and also seek permission from parents before entering into a love marriage or civil union. At the same time, DJs were banned from playing obscene songs, holding funeral ceremonies and spending lavishly. A five-member committee was formed to decide whether to participate in the movements and participate in the decisions of the khaps of other districts and states. Before participating in a movement, this five-member committee will make a decision, which will then be reviewed by the leaders of all 23 khaps. Later the decision will be made with the consent of everyone.

Captain Bhupendra Jaglan, who was present in the mahapanchayat, said all Khap leaders expressed their views and demanded changes in the Hindu Merit Act. The Mahapanchayat says that there is nothing wrong with a love marriage but the presence of parents as witnesses should also be necessary. Parental consent should also be required before entering into a shared apartment. There should be no marriage in villages and cowherds. Young people need to be educated about this too. A ban has also been imposed on DJs playing obscene songs, holding funeral ceremonies and indulging in lavish spending.

The five-member committee will make the decision

A separate five-member committee was formed in the Mahapanchayat with the heads of 23 khaps as members. In this, Ishwar Singh Nain from Narwana block, Somdutt Sharma from Uchana, Omprakash Kandela from Jind, Dilbagh Kalwa from Safidon, Bijendra Malik from Julana and Sardar Gurvinder Singh were appointed as secretaries and Umed Jaglan as press secretary. This committee decides whether to participate in a movement or not. In addition, the same committee will also take the decision to participate in the mahapanchayat of another district or state.

The focus is on making children cultured

In the Mahapanchayat, the issue of not being allowed to marry within the same village, namely Gotra and Gohand, was raised. The Mahapanchayat says that the youth must be cultivated for this. They also have to be convinced not to get married in the same village, Gohand and Gotra. The young people are also made aware of the issue of drug addiction.
