Kaithal: ADJ Dr. Gagandeep Kaur sentenced the perpetrator to 20 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 40,000 in the rape of a minor girl case. In case of non-payment of the fine, the convicted person must serve an additional sentence of 8 months. The court ordered that compensation of Rs 4 lakh should be paid to the girl through DLSA.

The victim’s mother had reported a case to the women’s police station on January 9, 2019. Assistant District Attorney Jai Bhagwan Goyal argued the case on behalf of the prosecution. Citing the file, Goyal said that the complainant’s daughter was 14 years old at the time of the incident. Jasmer, who lived nearby, often blocked his daughter’s path. The woman alleged that Jasmer entered her house a month ago and raped her daughter. Jasmer had threatened to kill the girl if she told anyone. Jasmer had also previously raped the complainant’s daughter by taking her to a juice shop. Out of fear, the girl only told him about this incident many days later. Based on this complaint, Mahila police station registered a case, arrested Jasmer and got the girl medically examined and counseled. The police prepared the challan and submitted it to the court. ADJ Dr. Gagandeep Kaur Singh’s court listened carefully to both parties and, in the light of witnesses and evidence, sentenced Jasmer to twenty years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs 40,000 in its 41-page verdict.
