Hisar: Three life sentences, including one woman for honor killing, three were acquitted for lack of evidence

Hisar: The court sentenced three people to life imprisonment, including the woman sentenced in the honor killing case. These include the girl’s mother, Kalawanti, brother Shivkumar and brother-in-law Rakesh, residents of Sabarwas and residents of the Indra colony Mandi Adampur. The court acquitted the three accused for lack of evidence.

According to the court case, on 20 September 2017, Adampur Police had registered one case of murder, mutilation and conspiracy. Dilbag, a resident of Seva Majra in Jind district, said his younger brother Vikram received a phone call on September 11th. After that he took the bike and left the house. When he called his brother at four o’clock, someone else answered. After that, the phone started to come off. According to Dilbagh, on September 17, when he went to Shiv Kumar’s house with his acquaintances, he said that our girl is gone, your boy is gone, make dirt on the matter. He then lodged a complaint with Adampur Police Station on 20 September. When police arrested defendant Shivkumar on the charge, he revealed that Vikram had to come and go at home.

According to Dilbagh, a love affair developed between younger sister Babli and Vikram. When the mother found out about this, she called her brother-in-law Rakesh at home on September 11th. We argued among ourselves and explained it to Babli, but she said that she would only marry Vikram. Afterwards, all three conspired to kill Babli-Vikram for fear of disgrace in society. After a call from Babli, Vikram was called home. After that, a lot was explained to both of them, but they did not agree. As part of the plot, Rakesh brought Sulfas dissolved in water and all three forced Babli-Vikram to drink it. After that he closed the room and sat outside.

When they entered the room after a while, both were still alive. Afterwards both were killed by choking with chunni. Then the bodies of both were thrown into the Sidhumukh Canal by putting them in the vehicle. When they got home, they stowed Vikram’s bike, cell phone, chunni and pillow in the vehicle and set off towards Sabarwas village. On the way, Vikram’s bike was thrown into the canal at Kumharia Marg. Chunni, pillows and other items were burned. After that, all three of them went to their brother-in-law’s house and slept. The next day, the mother filed a missing person report for Babli at the police station in Adampur so that no one would doubt it. In this case, the court had sentenced all three defendants a week ago.
