Jind news:12 buses had arrived at Jind depot 17 days ago but so far these buses have not been passed. For this reason, these buses are located in the depot itself. Given the number of buses, there are not enough drivers and conductors in the depot. In such a situation, 30 employees will be recruited at the Haryana Skill Employment Corporation depot. In addition, overtime for operators was also started. In such a situation, due to the shortage of drivers, there is a possibility that overtime will be introduced. It may take some time before the 12 new buses are ready for use. Earlier, when the buses arrived, 23 conductors were recruited under HKRN. In the last three months, more than 50 new buses have arrived at the depot.

According to the norm 1.7 set by the Ministry of Transport, 170 drivers and conductors are required for 100 buses. There are currently 165 buses in the depot. This includes 37 buses of the kilometer scheme. While 12 new buses are yet to be adopted. According to the norm, more than 290 drivers and conductors are required in these buses. There are currently 244 drivers and 269 conductors working at the depot. The process of routing the new 12 buses is underway. In which paperwork like passing, fastag and insurance is done. There is a lack of staff to run these buses smoothly.

Sandeep Ranga, state deputy president of Haryana Roadways Joint Employees Union, said that the transport department was sending new buses to the depot but there was a shortage of employees due to the number of buses. Drivers and conductors are recruited by the government under the Haryana Skill Corporation. Whereas the government should undertake permanent recruitment in the fleet so that the youth can also find employment. The union is against the government’s privatization policy.

The employees are hired as part of the HKRN

Jind Depot General Manager Kamaljeet said that considering the number of buses, more new operators will be hired at the Haryana Skill Employment Corporation depot. If the number of drivers is lower in relation to the number of buses, consideration may be given to providing drivers with overtime in accordance with HKRN until new drivers arrive.
