At the same time, criminals sentenced to life imprisonment of 10 years or more receive 60 days, and criminals sentenced to five years, more than five years and less than 10 years receive a sentence of 60 days. You get 45 days of relaxation. Furthermore, this exemption will also be granted to all offenders released from prison on parole and furlough on Republic Day i.e. January 26, 2024, provided they surrender at the concerned prison on the scheduled date. In this case, this exemption is granted during the remaining period of the prison sentence. An exemption is granted. However, this is not the first time that the state government has granted exemption to prisoners. There had already been relaxations on the occasion of Republic Day.

Offenders released on bail do not receive relief

According to the Haryana government, the prisoners who are on parole as well as the prisoners who are serving their sentence in jail are also eligible for this exemption. But offenders on bail do not receive this exception. According to the government’s announcement, the cases include kidnapping and murder of a child below 14 years of age, rape cum murder, conviction under POCSO Act-2012, cheating or robbery, kidnapping and demanding ransom, acid attack, drug trafficking. , Those convicted under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act, 1987, the Official Secrets Act, 1923, the Foreigners Act, 1948 and the Passport Act, 1967 are not eligible for this relaxation.

Last year the government also announced an exemption
