Gurugram: A woman was cheated of Rs 8 lakh for repairing the washing machine at the company’s service center in Manesar police station area. The victim reported this to the police. Based on the woman’s complaint, the police started a case and an investigation.
Julie, a resident of Narwana Jind, said her washing machine broke down. To get it repaired, he found the online number for the Whirlpool company service center. After the call, the official of the alleged company asked him to pay Rs 5. It is alleged that after making a payment of Rs 5, the accused sent him a link following which he hacked his phone and transferred Rs 8 lakh from his bank account in three transactions. This money was transferred to the AU Small Bank account. He then complained to the police. The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
