Food for workers: 127 workers canteens will be opened in Haryana, food will be available for 10 rupees, 488 people from 52 groups will find employment.

Chandigarh. Under the ‘Antyodaya Aahar Yojana’, launched by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal with an aim to provide food to workers at affordable prices, the Labor Department has started successful operations of 127 work canteens in the state. Food will be available in these canteens for just 10 rupees.

52 base canteens out of 157

Of these 127 canteens, 52 are basic canteens that have a kitchen. Where food is cooked and food is also served. The remaining 75 canteens will provide food prepared at the central kitchen from where the food will be distributed to the assigned locations using 39 vans and 9 e-rickshaws.

People connected to groups will get jobs

The canteen will not only provide food at affordable prices, members of self-help groups will also find employment here. There are 52 self-help groups associated with the canteens and around 488 members of these groups will be involved in the operation of the canteens. The canteens will provide food for around 27,000 workers every day. The base canteens were strategically located near workplaces and large industrial areas.

Expansion of Antyodaya Aahar Yojana

With the expansion of the project to open 100 canteens under Antyodaya Aahar Yojana in the state, 127 canteens will be operational. Through this program, the needy receive food at affordable prices, but the women of self-help groups also receive employment. According to the government, both male and female workers should be provided with good food at affordable prices.

Workers can also visit the Ministry of Labor website on mobile to find out the location of the nearest canteen and mobile canteen unit, so that workers can easily reach the nearest canteen and mobile canteen unit using the directions on the map. The locations of all permanent canteens and mobile units have been made available through a map on the Labor Department website www.hrylabour.gov.in.

Considering the major areas and workplaces as well as the number of workers, the government has identified 4 places in Karnal, 9 in Sonipat, 5 in Yamunanagar, 31 in Gurugram, 15 in Faridabad, 5 in Nuh, 9 in Panipat and 4 in Ambala, many Places including 4 canteens are operational in Panchkula.
