Due to the long-standing poor state of cleanliness in the city, the city seems to be settled on the rubbish heap. Even today, many of the city’s colonies, many of the streets in the new parts of the city, are those where no street sweeper can reach for 2 to 3 days. The situation has become such that the residents of the colony have to throw garbage on the streets outside the colony, as a result of which the main markets have become landfills. Municipal vehicles do come to collect the garbage, but due to the daily unavailability, the garbage continues to rot. About 40 tons of garbage are sent daily from the city of Fatehabad to the landfill on Bighad Road. It’s worst during the monsoon season, when the garbage starts to rot as soon as it rains. Then it becomes difficult for local residents to stay in their homes. Two days ago, Haryana State Pollution Control Board officials arrived and only left after delivering food on behalf of a public hearing. At this public hearing, the sarpanch vented his anger violently.

The municipal council has 27 districts in the city of Fatehabad. About 92,000 people live in these districts. There is an enormous shortage of staff at the city administration, which means that dirt is piling up all over the city. Since there are no sweepers available in the colonies on a daily basis, the residents here throw the garbage outside onto the street, where the animals lick it up all day long. The foul smell goes far and wide in the summer season. 11 such rubbish dumps have been built on Fatehabad National Road, Auto Market, Model City, Jagjivanpura, Bighad Road, Thana Road, Jawahar Chowk and Dharamshala Road where people throw rubbish every day. The sweepers also collect garbage from door to door in the stations, but mismanagement forces the townspeople to live in the dirt. In the city, 13 Tata Ace vehicles and 2 council tractor carts collect 40 tons of rubbish every day and dispose of it at the approximately 3 hectare landfill on Beeghad Road. 38,000 tons of waste are currently piled up at the landfill. The situation is that there is no capacity here to dispose of more garbage.

The waste treatment plant was relocated from Bhuna

Immediately after his appointment as Chief Minister in 2014, Manohar Lal announced the construction of a waste disposal facility in Bhuna in the district during his first visit to Fatehabad. 24 hectares of land were also bought for this purpose. The Fatehabad City Council has issued several tenders for this, but only one tender came up, due to which this plant could not be put into operation. Now, due to the weakness of those in power, a relocation from Bhuna to Hansi has been announced, which means that the hopes that the garbage will be disposed of here are mixed up with the garbage. Explain that after the Bhuna Waste Disposal Plant started, there was a plan to collect the waste from Fatehabad, Bhuna, Ratia and Tohana and build a power plant.

More than 20 out of 157 employees do forced labor in the brothels

At the time of the Municipal Council of Fatehabad, there is a great shortage of employees. After the re-demarcation, the staff workload has also increased with the addition of 6 new colonies to the city. The council currently employs a total of 157 sanitation workers, of whom more than 20 workers work in the officers’ quarters. According to the rules, there should be one employee for every 400 people, but currently one employee works for every 1,000 residents. Due to the increasing workload of the employees, their union has also repeatedly called for new employees to be hired.

Fatehabad district became ODF

Fatehabad district has become completely defecation free. There isn’t a village in the district where people defecate outdoors. In this regard, Fatehabad district was declared the first ODF district by the central government 3 years ago. The Deputy Commissioner at the time was also honored with this.

State Pollution Board officials continued to deliver food on behalf of the public hearing

On March 31, the Haryana State Pollution Control Board organized a public hearing program at the Bighad Road garbage disposal site. In which the members of Gram Panchayat Matana vented their anger in front of DMC Ajay Chopra and Regional Chief Executive Shakti Singh. He claimed that dirt and polyethylene fly from here and end up on the fields, which are harmful. They have lodged complaints several times, but no hearing takes place. He said that the garbage collection point should be moved from here to another location. Village sarpanch Dalbir Singh said that people are suffering from diseases due to the waste. The vehicles bring the sold covered garbage out of the city and reach the point of sale on the way. In response, Regional Executive Director Shakti Singh said we will plant forests on 50 percent of the area here. Compost is made from waste, reducing waste.

At present, 157 employees of the municipal administration collect the garbage in the colonies every day. This rubbish will be dumped at the Bighad Road dump. About 38,000 tons of garbage are piled up at the landfill. A plan will be drawn up for the disposal of this waste. -Mukesh Sharma, Chief Purification Inspector Fatehabad
