Fatehabad: A kabaddi player from Tamaspura village in the area committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in his field last night. In this case, on the complaint of the player’s brother, the police registered a case against a youth from Pabda Hisar and a girl from Talwandi Sabo, Punjab, alleging that they had forced them to commit suicide and initiated an investigation. The police will soon interrogate the accused.
Jaspreet, a resident of Tamaspura village, said that his younger brother Harpreet, 32, was unmarried and a kabaddi player. He had gone to Hisar village in Mirchpur on the evening of September 16 to take part in a kabaddi tournament. After the tournament he stayed in a PG in Hisar. On September 18, he received a call from the PG operator that his brother had an argument with Naveen, a resident of Pabda, over the case of Lovepreet Kaur from Talwandi Sabo, Punjab. After getting the information, he along with his uncle reached a private hospital in Hisar where Naveen met him and told him that he was injured in a fight. He told that Lovepreet was working in his office and he had an argument with Harpreet about it. He later called his brother Harpreet in PG where he told him that both of them had been harassing him. Then he came home. When he came home, he told the same thing, that both of them had molested him and forced him to die, and that he left the house at 6 p.m. last night. At 10.30 pm, her cousin told Japlin that Harpreet had posted on Instagram and talked about suicide after she was fed up with Naveen and Lovepreet. When they went looking for him, they found him hanging from a noose on a rosewood tree in the field.
The police have registered a case against the woman and Naveen and have initiated an investigation. Surendra Kamboj, in-charge of Sadar police station, said that based on the complaint of the brother of the deceased, a case was registered against both of them and further proceedings were initiated in the case.
