Cooperative Scam: A scam worth Rs 100 crore took place in the Haryana Cooperative Department.  The ACB team arrested 14 officials.

Cooperative fraud: The Haryana Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) team uncovered a fraud worth Rs 100 crore in the Haryana Integrated Cooperative Development Project. The team arrested 10 senior officials and four private individuals in the case. Haryana Police Director General Shatrujit Kapoor said that this scam came to light during investigations.

Assistant Registrar Cooperative Societies of the Cooperative Department and District Registrar Cooperative Societies in agreement with the auditor purchased apartments and land in personal interest with the money deposited in the government account. Bank account details were also falsified by these officials in government records. In this entire matter, a fraud of around Rs 100 crore has come to light in the name of the Integrated Cooperative Development Project. A case has been registered against the accused in several districts in Karnal and Ambala areas.

These officials were involved in the fraud

The Director General of Police further said that the ACB has so far arrested six public officials, four other officials of ICDP Rewari and four private persons involved in the investigation. These accused include Audit Asar Balwinder, Deputy Chief Auditor Yogendra Aggarwal, District Registrar Cooperative Societies Karnal Rohit Gupta, Assistant Registrar Cooperative Societies (ARCS) Anu Kaushik, Ramkumar, Jitendra Kaushik and Krishna Beniwal.

At the same time, accountant Sumit Aggarwal, development officer Vijay Singh and Nitin Sharma were arrested from the department’s IDP Rewari. Four private citizens, Natasha Kaushik, Jeet, Subhash and Rekha, were also arrested in the same case.

How did the fraud happen?

The cooperative development project was undertaken by the Haryana Cooperative Department. Under this project, development work will be carried out by organizing various types of programs in rural and agricultural areas and establishing cooperatives. Haryana ACB Director General Shatrujeet Kapoor said that no matter which department the corrupt person belongs to, action will definitely be taken if he is found guilty. The office team is committed to taking action against the perpetrators with complete transparency and impartiality and this campaign against the corrupt will continue in the future.
