In this case, on the complaint of the mother’s side, the police have registered a case against the accused husband under Section 302, 498A of the IPC.

Surendra Singh, a resident of Gugod village Rewari, has lodged a complaint at Sadar police station. The complaint states that his niece Miradevi was married to Pramod, a resident of Koriyavas village, on February 13, 2009. Gifts, dowries, etc. were also given upon marriage. On the same day, Meera’s elder sister Tina married Pramod’s elder brother Dheeraj. Miradevi’s three children Palak, Paridhi and Yajsh were born from this marriage. A few days after the marriage, Pramod repeatedly told Miradevi that she was not gifted a car at the wedding and that she should bring 10 lakh rupees from her parents’ house so that he could buy a bigger car. In between, we sometimes gave 50,000 rupees and sometimes 70,000 rupees to the accused Pramod to settle the girl’s house. The situation worsened after the death of niece Miradevi’s father-in-law. Pramod fell into bad company and started harassing his niece for dowry. We then took panchayats several times and went to Pramod’s village Koriyawas. Pramod would admit his mistake in the panchayat but then demand dowry there himself. Used to torture Meera. He beat and harassed her and demanded a dowry of Rs 10,000. He says if she doesn’t bring 10 lakh rupees, he will kill Meera. Troubled by all this, Brother Somdutt got Miradevi admitted to the ANM course in Mahendragarh.

Niece Meera’s two aunts get married in the village of Khori and have been living there with Paridhi and Yajsh ever since. Meera’s elder daughter Palak lived with her grandmother in Korea. Niece Meera had started working as ANM in Rewari with Dr. Omprakash to work to earn a living. Two years ago, niece Meera was living with her aunt in Khori village. From time to time, daughter Palak came to Koriyavas to meet her mother-in-law and sister Tina. Whenever Meera came to Korea, her husband Pramod would beat her and demand money. He was under the influence of Sulfa and Bhang. Her husband Pramod called the mobile number provided by niece Meera on Thursday, November 2 this month and called her to Korea to inform her that Palak was not well. In this regard, Pramod started calling repeatedly on the cell phone. Niece Meera told her mother Chandrakala that she came to Korea at around seven in the evening the same day. It was also said that husband Pramod had mistakenly said that Palak was ill. Palak is absolutely fine. Pramod fights. He demands 10,000 rupees and threatens to kill her. She will reach Khori tomorrow. At around 12 noon the same night, Kosli, a resident of Birsingh, called Meera’s father and informed him that Meera had been killed by the accused Pramod. They immediately reached Koriyavas.

The complainant has stated that Brother Somdutt, Brother Vedrapkash, Lakshmidevi, Rampyari and Manisha reached Pramod’s house in Koriyawas village at 7.15 am the next day on November 3. We saw niece Meera lying on the veranda. Preparations were made for cremation. We personally went outside and looked in the cabin where there was a cable/cord under the crib. We saw our daughter Meera’s entire body. Signs of injury were visible in many places on Meera’s body. There were also many injury marks on the waist. There were also spots on the neck. It was tied to one ear. The earring from the other ear was under the cot in the yard. When the accused asked Pramod if Miradevi was with him at night, Pramod said that he had killed Miradevi. With these words he ran away from there. Then we called 112. Police reached the spot and shifted the body to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem. Where the autopsy of the body was carried out by the medical board. The complainant states that he is absolutely certain that his niece Meera Devi was strangled by her husband Pramod.
