Bhiwani: BSF Jawan Shaheed Narendra Kumar was cremated with state honors in his home village of Lalawas on Wednesday. The elder brother of the martyr Anil sacrificed a pyre for his remains. On behalf of the district administration, Magistrates Harbir Singh, Tosham’s SDM Manish Kumar Phogat and Loharu’s DSP Ashok Kumar along with many officials, leaders and representatives of social organizations paid tribute to the martyr’s remains by laying wreaths. Army soldiers gave the martyr a final salute, firing bullets in the air and playing mournful tunes. Meanwhile, the villagers shouted slogans like “Shaheed Narendra Kumar amar rahe, until the sun and moon stay Narendra, your name will stay.”

It is noteworthy that 27-year-old Narendra Kumar, a resident of Lalawas village, was martyred last day in Manipur while fighting the militants while protecting Mother India. On Wednesday, the body of the martyr Narendra arrived in the village in an army vehicle, draped in the tricolor. As soon as news of the martyr’s remains reached the village, all the villagers gathered to pay their respects and last respects to the beloved one. Martyr Narendra Kumar was cremated at the village cremation ground. Apart from a contingent of BSF military officers who reached the village with the martyr’s remains, the district’s senior officials, police officers, political parties and social organizations paid homage to the martyr and said goodbye to him.

Martyr Soldier Narendra’s father, Kirori Mal, is a bricklayer while mother Shakuntala is a housewife. Narendra was commissioned into BSF Battalion 122 Shimla in 2013. Narendra married Neetu von Hisar in 2015 and they have a seven-year-old son, Hitarth. Martyr Narendra was stationed in Manipur as of 2019. The remains of the martyr Narendra were saluted to his home village of Lalawas by senior BSF officers from Delhi headquarters in the morning.
