Delhi Government’s notice to Ashish More, Secretary, Services Department.

The Delhi government has issued a show cause notice to Ashish More, an officer of the Indian Administrative Service and secretary of the service department, for not complying with the instructions regarding the posting of a new officer in his place. Has been issued, along with he has been warned of disciplinary action.

More was removed from his post by the Delhi government last week. Earlier, the Supreme Court had said in a unanimous decision that the Delhi government has legislative and executive control over services other than public order, police and land. The apex court had given the AAP government control over the transfer and posting of officers in Delhi.

A Delhi government official said More has not responded to the show-cause notice sent by Services Department Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj on May 13. Bhardwaj, in a memo sent to More, asked him to respond within 24 hours to the allegation that More had refused to comply with the Supreme Court judgment and directions for his transfer.

The Services Minister also said that all efforts to contact the officer through phone or through WhatsApp did not yield any result as he is absconding without intimation of leave. Significantly, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of Delhi had reached the Supreme Court on Friday alleging that the Center was not implementing the transfer of the Secretary of its Services Department. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud had said that he would constitute a bench to hear the matter.
