According to the information, cases of dog bites have increased rapidly in Delhi for some time. These include street dogs as well as pets. According to the Animal Birth Control Rules 2001, sterilization of 80 percent of the total number of dogs in any city is necessary. The agency does not have the correct estimate of the number of dogs in Delhi, so how can the government meet this target. It is said that the terror of dogs is more in Pandav Nagar Ward, Narela Ward, Burari Ward, Bawana Ward, Alipur Ward of the Corporation and long queues are also reported for vaccination in hospitals.

Dogs were counted for the first time in the year 2010.

It is being told that in the last 5 years, 36 people have lost their lives due to dog bites, while in the recent past also many people have lost their lives, including two children. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi is preparing to enumerate them after about 13 years in view of the increasing number of dogs and bite cases. So that we can get information about their actual number. In Delhi, for the first time in the year 2010, after 9 years of implementation of Animal Birth Control year 2001, the dog census was done. Then the number of dogs in Delhi was about 2 lakhs. There has been a considerable increase in the number of dogs in 13 years, but the experts of the Veterinary Department do not have their actual numbers.

Animal Birth Control officials will have to count dogs

According to MCD officials, in the year 2016, dog census was done in Southern, Western, Central and Najafgarh zones. At that time the number of dogs found in these four zones was 1,89,285. Out of which 41.8 percent male dogs, while 29.18 percent female dogs were sterilized. At the same time, in the last 5 years, 36 people have lost their lives due to dog bites. After the continuous increase in the cases of dog bites, the MCD has once again planned to count them. Due to lack of details of the exact number of dogs, the officials of the corporation believe that it is not possible to sterilize the dogs 100 percent. For this, the officials of Municipal Corporation, Veterinary Department and Animal Birth Control will have to get the dogs counted.
