Delhi Mayor Election:Following the order of the Supreme Court, the election of the Mayor of Delhi is going to be held today. Councilors got dates three times due to the ruckus during the election of Mayor, Deputy Mayor and 6 members of the Standing Committee by the Presiding Officer of Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Satya Sharma, appointed by Lieutenant Governor of Delhi VK Saxena. Leaders of Aam Aadmi Party and BJP accused each other of not allowing the mayoral election to be held. Fed up with this, the Aam Aadmi Party approached the Supreme Court, but there too nothing happened from one date and on the second date received, the Lieutenant Governor issued orders for elections to the said posts within 24 hours.

Nominated members will not be able to vote

Now it remains to be seen whether Delhi will get a mayor today or not, after getting date after date and the order of the Supreme Court. On the other hand, corporation sources say that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has made complete preparations for the elections on the said posts. The officials of the corporation are also wishing that the elections should be held according to the rules. While talking about the political corridors, they do not feel that this time also the mayoral election can be held easily and peacefully.

The BJP says that every time we wanted elections to be held on the said posts, but the leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party used to spoil the atmosphere in the House. On the other hand, Aam Aadmi Party leaders say that the members nominated by the Lieutenant Governor do not have the right to vote in the election of Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Standing Committee members of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, so how can they allow the murder of democracy in such a situation. But the Supreme Court, while giving its verdict in the case, said that no nominated member will be able to vote in the mayoral election.
