Four arms suppliers caught looking for a hotel to celebrate birthday party

New Delhi. The Special Cell arrested four miscreants of the Azad gang who were supplying arms when they were roaming in Mahipalpur area in search of a hotel to celebrate their birthday. Their names have been mentioned as Abhishek Bhardwaj, Hukum Dev, Aditya Tiwari and Tarun Chauhan. Two semi-automatic pistols, two extra magazines, twenty cartridges, single shot pistol and two cartridges have been recovered from them. According to the police, input about Azad gang was received from Bihar ATS. All the accused are originally from Bihar, Jharkhand and Rajasthan.

The leader of the gang is Abhishek Bhardwaj, who had created accounts on Facebook and Instagram apart from the YouTube channel. It was through the social media platform that he along with other gang members was running the arms supply racket. All of them were caught near the Mahipalpur flyover U-turn on the evening of 23 November. He was roaming around in search of a hotel to celebrate Abhishek Bhardwaj’s birthday with a Hyundai Venue car. He had also made a plan to fire at a deserted place during the party.

A consignment of arms was sent to the accused from MP on behalf of Kunal. Who had given a pistol as a gift on Abhishek’s birthday. Accused Abhishek Bhardwaj has studied till class XII. In the year 2017, he came to Delhi with Luv Kumar, a resident of Munger Bihar. Here he supplied two pistols to a local criminal Rahul Dabas. During this, there was a dispute regarding the payment, where Rahul Dabas shot Abhishek Bhardwaj. The lower part of his body was paralyzed due to the bullet. Even after this, he was operating the arms smuggling gang through social media platform. In December 2020, four associates of Abhishek Bhardwaj were also arrested from Visakhapatnam.

Accused Hukum Dev has studied up to the first year of graduation. During college, he came in contact with Abhishek on Instagram and bought a single shot pistol from him for Rs 5,000 with the intention of settling his personal dispute. However, he did not use the pistol and sold it to a gang member in Jharkhand for Rs 8,000. After this he along with Abhishek started doing illegal arms business. Accused Tarun Chauhan is pursuing B.Sc from a college in Rajasthan.
