A prisoner committed suicide by hanging himself in Delhi’s Tihar Jail on Monday night. The name of the deceased has been described as Javed (26), a resident of Sanjay Camp Dakshinpuri. He was lodged in a 2016 robbery case in Malviya Nagar area. In this case, he was produced in the Saket court on Monday. The accused was convicted in the case. It is feared that he took this step after being disturbed by the court’s decision. The body of the accused was found hanging in the toilet. The body has been sent to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for postmortem.

According to the police, the Hari Nagar police station was informed about the incident on Monday night. It was told that a prisoner has hanged himself in Central Jail No. 9, Tihar. During the investigation, the police came to know that on coming to know about the incident, Tihar Jail doctors conducted an on-the-spot investigation, after which the prisoner was declared brought dead. The crime team has also reached the spot and investigated. The police have informed the family of the deceased about the incident. On checking the footage of the CCTV camera installed in the jail, it was found that Javed had hanged himself with the help of a toilet tap.
