The Mayor of Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Dr Shaili Oberoi has taken a tough stand against corruption in the corporation. Mayor Dr. Oberoi has ordered the DC of Shahdara North Zone to register an FIR against the corrupt officials including the junior engineer and his associates. Dr Shaili Oberoi said that several councilors of Shahdara North complained of open bribery by JE and its associates. JE’s associates are calling themselves MCD officers. Mayor Dr Shaili Oberoi held a review meeting regarding local issues with the councilors of Shahdara North and South Zone on Friday at the Civic Centre. Leader of the House Mukesh Goyal participated in the meeting. All the councilors of both the zones and officers of the concerned area were present in the meeting. During the meeting, several councilors had complained that JE was openly taking bribe with the help of his associates. JE’s aides posing as MCD officials are threatening to demolish the houses of the locals if they do not pay the bribe. After this, the Mayor has ordered to register a case against the corrupt officers including JE and their associates.
Mayor Dr. Shaili Oberoi said that such behavior is unacceptable. Aam Aadmi Party has zero tolerance against corruption. We will not allow any officer to harass Delhiites. According to the vision of CM Arvind Kejriwal, soon MCD will be corruption free. We will take strict action against anyone found guilty of corruption.
Instructions to solve the problems of the wards immediately
The councilors of Shahdara North informed the mayor about encroachment in the area, dark spots, lack of cleaning personnel, lack of resources, maintenance of procession houses and parks, problem of stray animals, lack of health facilities, open drains, illegal meat shops, illegal parking Information about etc. The councilors of Shahdara South Zone also apprised the Mayor regarding maintenance of parks, illegal encroachment in markets, acute shortage of auto tippers, illegal parking, public toilets, unauthorized dairy, problem of stray cattle and shortage of staff.
The solution to the problems of the zone will come out with mutual cooperation.
The Mayor gave instructions to the officials to solve these problems immediately. The mayor has asked the councilors to inform the officials about the ground reality of the area. With this, whenever the officers visit the area, they can understand the reality of the ward. He said that a positive solution to the problems of the zone can be found only with mutual cooperation and coordination.
