Delhi Liquor Policy: Know under which sections CBI arrested Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, punishment can be this much

Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on Sunday late evening in the liquor scam and will now be produced in the CBI court. According to media reports, the Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested Sisodia for his involvement in destruction of evidence. Along with this, many sections of IPC have been added on them.

Under which sections Manish Sisodia was arrested

Section 120B of the Indian Penal Code has been imposed on Manish Sisodia. It can be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 6 months, or with fine, or with both. Section 477A with intent to cheat has also been added. The punishment is imprisonment of up to 7 years or fine or both. Along with this, Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been imposed, under this section, if proved guilty, there can be a minimum punishment of 3 years and a maximum of 7 years and there is also a provision for fine.

What did the CBI say

The CBI said Manish Sisodia’s answers were not satisfactory and he was not cooperating in the investigation. During the eight-hour interrogation, Sisodia was confronted with the evidence collected by the CBI. In which documentary and some digital evidence were also included. But Sisodia was not successful in defending himself. According to media reports, some controversial provisions were added to the Delhi Liquor Policy, which were not part of the earlier draft.

With this, an official working in the Excise Department said that Sisodia’s role in manipulating the draft was revealed. Forensic examination of the seized digital devices by CBI reveals that these provisions were received by an official on WhatsApp.

Earlier, before going to the CBI headquarters, Manish Sisodia had said about the inquiry that he would cooperate fully in the entire investigation. I don’t care if I have to stay in jail. Along with this, AAP workers and leaders expressed their displeasure by protesting throughout the day on Sunday.
