Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) Vinay Kumar Saxena decided in a meeting on Monday that more than 10 thousand home guards should be recruited in the capital. At the same time, as per the minimum qualification required for appointment of constables in Delhi Police, the minimum qualification for enrollment has also been increased from class 10th to class 12th.
According to the information, LG has directed to give priority to Civil Defense Volunteers (CDV) in these Home Guard recruitment. According to the Rajniwas Secretariat, Saxena directed to give priority to Civil Defense Volunteers through additional credit in the selection of Home Guards and said that a time limit should be fixed.
Apart from this, LG issued instructions to ensure fairness and transparency that the entire recruitment process should be videographed by CCTV. This recruitment process will be completed by March 2024. According to the LG office, the entire enrollment process will be completed at a faster pace by deploying more teams and locations to complete the physical test process.

Once enrolled under Home Guard, these Home Guard volunteers will be given approximately Rs 25 thousand every month. As a special provision to give opportunity to CDVs, a quota may be given in terms of providing them 10 additional marks for the purpose of preferential selection. 15 teams of senior officers each from the district administration, Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) will act as a board to assess the physical fitness of the candidates applying for the 10 spots. This will ensure selection and complete the screening process faster.
