The Special Staff of Delhi’s South District has arrested two bookies linked to a high profile racket of betting on IPL cricket matches. Their names have been given as Amit Chaudhary and Sunil, residents of Kotla Mubarakpur area. Two laptops, 15 mobile phones, one LED TV have been seized from them. During the police investigation, it was found that the accused used to keep track of the punters through betting assistant software. So far this season two to three crores had been put at stake by them.

According to DCP Chandan Chowdhary, input was received that IPL betting racket is active in Hauz Khas area. After gathering information, a house in Gulmohar Park was raided on Saturday. Two people were caught from there. Recordings of conversations with punters were found in the phones recovered from them. On Sunday, a case was registered against them at Hauz Khas police station under the Delhi Gambling Act.

Bet 2-3 crores on 67 IPL matches

During interrogation, both the accused disclosed that they used to keep track of entire transactions and punters in this betting game through a software. At the same time, one of his people was present in the stadium to tell the actual score. Which is a second or two faster than the live match shown on TV channels. The software was bought from an acquaintance from Nehru Place. 3 to 5 lakh per match by them and in the 67 matches played so far in IPL, about two to three crore rupees had been put at stake.
