The MCD report states that in 2018, a total of 15 people lost their lives due to stray dog ​​bites, while in 2019, 10 people died. On the other hand, talking about 2020 and 2021, 3-3 people died due to the bite of stray dogs. After this, in 2022, these cases doubled. In 2022, six people lost their lives in the attack of stray dogs. If we talk about this year, so far four cases have come to the fore, in which people have lost their lives.

Every day 5500 people become victims of stray dogs in the country.

Daily 150 cases of stray dog ​​bites are reported in the capital. Small children playing mostly become victims of stray dog ​​attacks. According to the World Health Organization, every day 5500 people in the country become victims of stray dogs in some way or the other, including small children. Along with this, India is also on top in the number of people who die of rabies after dog bite in the whole world. MCD Sterilized 7000 Dogs in Two Months After the increase in dog bite cases in Delhi, MCD has sterilized around 7000 dogs in the last two months. According to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, 56,045 stray dogs have been sterilized since last year till the month of February. With this, the MCD has set a target of sterilizing 80,000 dogs this year.

What will happen by sterilizing dogs

In fact, apart from sterilization of dogs, the corporation also gives them rabies and other necessary vaccines, which will reduce the number of stray dogs and curb the deaths due to dog bites in future. After keeping the sterilized dogs under observation for a few days, they are released in their area. According to the Municipal Corporation, the area where dogs have been sterilised, there has been a reduction in dog bite cases.
