Stray Dogs Terror: The menace of stray dogs is spreading rapidly in the national capital Delhi. The cases of dog bites are increasing rapidly in Delhi. In the last six months from September 2022 to February 2023, 47,881 cases of dog bites have been reported in Safdarjung Hospital and Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. At the same time, from September 2022 to February 2023, 3,462 cases of monkey and cat bites were reported in both the hospitals.

According to a survey, 29,698 cases of dog bites were reported in Safdarjung and 18,183 cases of dog bites in Ram Manohar Lohia, the two major hospitals of Delhi government, between the last 6 months, which is much more than the number of bites of cats, monkeys and other animals.
Chief Medical Officer in-charge of Safdarjung Hospital Dr. Surendra Goyal said that in the last 6 months, 250 cases of animal bites are being reported daily. Which mainly includes cases of young children and adult men. At the same time, the number of street vendors is more in it. Some cases also come from pet dog bites, but most cases are related to stray dog bites. Goyal said that the record of the number of monkey and cat bite patients is also kept in the hospital. He said that from September 2022 to February 2023, 1,125 and 1,186 cases of monkey and cat bites were registered in Safdarjung Hospital. A total of 536 monkey bite cases and 615 cat bite cases have been registered at RML Hospital during the same period.
