Delhi News:Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and Delhi Government have always been trying to provide better and convenient metro feeder bus services to metro passengers. In this series, the process of acquisition of feeder buses of DMRC by the Delhi Government is going to be completed. Under the preparations made by DMRC in this direction, e-buses are going to be handed over to the Delhi Government, consignment by consignment, from the coming month of April. These new buses will run on eco-friendly fuel i.e. electric. In this regard, a DMRC official said that DMRC will start handing over a fleet of 100 feeder e-buses to the Delhi government from the month of April.

This 100 e-buses is the first fleet of electric buses from Delhi Metro to Delhi. Presently these e-buses are plying on six routes in the city. As per the information DMRC wants that these feeder buses will be run on those routes which come in remote areas such as Delhi Dehat. Because the feeder service for Metro Rail is very important for the passengers of these areas. In such a situation, if these feeder buses do not go to rural remote areas, then the passengers will have to face a lot of difficulties in reaching the metro rail. DMRC will also accept smart card fare in these e-buses. Let us inform that in the past, the Delhi government had said that the fleet of DMRC’s electric buses would be acquired. Acting on the government’s proposal, the cabinet recently decided to acquire over 100 existing electric buses of DMRC.

A decision has also been taken in the cabinet to run additional 380 feeder buses under the Transport Department this year. It may be noted that DMRC is operating feeder e-buses from Shastri Park and Majlis Park Depots in Eastern and Northern Clusters since December 2019. These buses will be run by the Transport Department through the Delhi Integrated Multi and Modal Transit System. While six stations – Welcome, Kohat Enclave, Rithala, Nangloi, Mundka and Dwarka – have been identified for operation of 380 electric buses. The depots at these places will be constructed by DMRC. Officials had said that the transport department would operate the feeder buses on per kilometer basis, where the operators would be paid on the basis of the distance covered during the day.
