Delhi Women’s Commission Chairperson Swati Maliwal on Saturday made serious allegations against her father. Maliwal said that she was sexually abused by her father when she was a child. Speaking after felicitating nearly 100 women with awards at an event organized by the Delhi Commission for Women, Swati Maliwal said that there was a time when she used to hide under the bed fearing her father.

Swati Maliwal said that when I was a child, I was sexually abused by my father. He used to beat me, because of his fear I used to hide under the bed. When I was young, I used to plan how to teach a lesson to men who misbehave with women and children. Also during that time I used to think how I can help those women, which they deserve.
Along with this, the Chairperson of the Women’s Commission further said that my father used to hold me by the hair and throw me on the wall, after which serious injuries would occur. This was the time when I used to study in class 4, after which we left my father.
Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal said she believes that when a person goes through such challenges in life, he is able to understand the pain of others and is passionate enough to change the system. Swati Maliwal further said that she wants to give a message to all the girls who are facing any kind of atrocities and injustice that they should raise their voice against it and face every difficult situation with courage.

Earlier in 2016, the chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women had said through her tweet that I am a soldier’s daughter, grew up in the army, learned to work for the country and die for the country. No power in the world can scare me. After accusing the father of sexual abuse, people are expressing all kinds of reactions on social media. With this, a user wrote that which was the father whom you were proud of till 2016. Also said that I believe that no daughter lies about the father. You lied in 2016 or are you lying today.
