The administration of Jama Masjid in Old Delhi has taken a shocking decision. The administration has issued a proper notice banning the entry of girl or girls inside the Jama Masjid. These notices have been pasted on all the three gates of the mosque. This decision of the mosque administration has come to the fore when Muslim women, especially in Iran, are raising their voice for their rights. Protest has also started on this decision of Jama Masjid administration.
According to media reports, social activist Shahnaz Afzal has opposed the ban on single entry of girls in Jama Masjid. He said that we are in such a country where everyone has got equal rights. If single girls are not allowed inside the mosque then it is like keeping the constitution in abeyance. He said that we will not accept this decision under any circumstances.
Muslim Rashtriya Manch spokesperson Shahid Sayeed also criticized the decision. He said that there is a place of worship for everyone. It is wrong to stop girls from visiting this holy place. This mindset is wrong. He asked why the Jama Masjid was treating women in a second-class manner, it should be told. At the same time, social activist Shahnaz Afzal said that in a country which claims to be the world’s largest democracy, women are being discriminated against so much. It should not happen.
The spokesperson of the mosque management made such a defense
Jama Masjid spokesperson Sabiullah has defended the decision of the mosque administration when the controversy escalated. He said that many such couples come to Jama Masjid, whose behavior is not according to religion. Some girls come to make videos so that they can upload on social media. These girls even come to the place of prayer. This causes trouble to the worshippers. In such a situation, it was decided that the entry of girl or girls alone inside the mosque has been banned.
