Delhi Police: Apart from Hindi language words, policemen also use Urdu and Persian language words to write FIRs in police stations of most states of the country, but now Delhi Police has changed this format. Delhi Police has decided to change the wording used in the FIR. Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora said that now only Hindi and English languages will be used in any FIR written by the Delhi Police. Strict action will be taken against policemen who use Urdu and Persian words.

Let us tell you that due to the use of Urdu and Persian words in the FIR, the victim finds it difficult to read it. There are many words that the victim cannot understand. Keeping these things in mind, it has been decided by the Delhi Police that Urdu and Persian language words will not be used in writing the FIR, so that the complainant can read and understand the FIR written in simple and easy words.

Use of Hindi-English words in FIR

According to the Delhi Police, before independence, Urdu and Persian languages were mainly used for court proceedings and paperwork in the country. Now policemen are also using such words while writing FIRs, but now on the orders of Delhi High Court, Delhi Police will not use Urdu and Persian language words while writing FIRs. Under this, 383 words to be written in Delhi Police have been changed.

Please tell that in the year 2018, a public interest litigation was filed in the Delhi High Court regarding this. Hearing the petition, the court ordered not to write FIR on the words of Urdu and Persian language. After this, the police commissioner issued a circular on April 11, 2023, ordering not to write complaints in Urdu and Persian language words.
