Raipur. To promote biodiversity and increase the number of wildlife in the state, the Forest and Climate Change Department of the Government of Chhattisgarh has taken an important initiative. Bhomardev, (Baranwapara) Baranwapara And by freeing Gomarda from administrative control, placing it under CCF Wildlife USTR, the responsibility of running these three sanctuaries has been given to the Jungle Safari Director. With this, Gomarda Sanctuary under Raigarh Forest Division will now be operated by Achanakmar-Amarkantak Biosphere Bilaspur.

It is noteworthy that 44 percent of the state’s land area is forest area. Despite 44 percent of the state’s land area being forest area, wildlife is disappearing from the forests here. Also the forests are being encroached upon. Sanctuaries remain protected areas in name only. Keeping this in mind, on the instructions of Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar, the Forest and Climate Change Department has given the responsibility of operating Baranwapara, Bhoramdev to the Jungle Safari Director to increase the number of wildlife in the forest areas as well as to conserve and promote biodiversity.

Joining the biosphere will create a distinct identity

It is noteworthy that the Biosphere Reserve has been given the international name as Biosphere by the United Nations. There are 18 biosphere reserves across the country. Among them is Achanakmar-Amarkantak Biosphere Reserve comprising Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. Now after the inclusion of Gomarda in it, Gomarda Sanctuary will get a different identity. After becoming a biosphere reserve, the areas of Gomarda which have been encroached upon will be freed from encroachment.

Plans will be made to attract tourists

After the three forest areas are freed from administrative control, it will help in making plans to attract tourists and beautify the forests. Along with this, the state government will release a separate budget for the conservation and promotion of biodiversity. It is noteworthy that at present there are 11 sanctuaries in the state, out of which new experiments are being done in three sanctuaries.

Will develop by dividing it into three categories

Like other forest areas, these forest areas will be developed by dividing them into three categories as core, buffer and normal forest areas. The core area will remain a protected forest area, movement there without permission will be completely prohibited. Along with this, the buffer area will be used for such works which are completely controlled and non-destructive. There will be permission to do research here. Also, the general area will be the forest and the outer part of the populated area.
