Health workers’ strike worsens condition of hospitals
Raipur . Due to the strike of 60,000 health workers, the treatment system in all government hospitals and health centers of the state was affected on Tuesday. Along with examining the patients in the OPD, doctors continued to do the work of offering saline and applying ointment. Various investigations were affected due to the shortage of technicians and radiographers, while routine surgeries were also postponed in major hospitals. Help of nursing girl students studying in colleges was also taken to handle the arrangements of hospitals.
Patients upset due to strike of doctors
The health workers have gone on strike since Tuesday with their two dozen demands. The treatment system in all health centers along with hospitals has been affected due to the simultaneous shutdown of all cadre employees. The striking employees had kept some employees away from the strike to maintain the arrangements of oxygen supply, water, electricity, operation theatre, emergency, trauma and ICU in the hospitals. Despite this, the hospital system was affected.

The doctors examined the patients who came to the OPD in Ambedkar Hospital in the morning and in the absence of class III and IV employees, they continued to do their dressing and dressing. Due to the limited number of technicians and radiographers, there was a crowd of those who got sonography, X-rays done. Due to non-availability of nursing staff, technicians, routine surgeries in the hospital were postponed. Even in trauma, the work of providing saline to the patients remained in the hands of the doctors. At the same time, the patients admitted in the wards had to wait for the medicines on time due to non-availability of the nursing staff. Apart from Ambedkar Hospital, the treatment system was also affected in all health centers including DK Hospital, District Hospital.

During the agitation on 24-point demands under the banner of Chhattisgarh State Health Employees Union, on the first day, the employees gathered in the health centers of all the district headquarters and raised slogans. Employees of various hospitals of the capital gathered at Ambedkar Hospital and raised slogans. After this, a demonstration was held at the protest site located in Tuta.

Keeping in view the difficulties in the care of the patients admitted in the wards, the admitted less serious patients were discharged. To overcome the shortage of nerves in the hospital, the help of nursing students is being taken.
