Decoction of the bark is used to treat diseases related to the mouth. The gum that comes out of the tree, also known as Lasha, is useful for eyesight and enhances eyesight along with curing cataract. Consumption of tendu fruit keeps sugar under control. Along with this, consumption of tendu fruit does not cause stomach related diseases.
Tendu leaves are called green-gold
Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh are considered top in tendu cultivation. In both these states it is also called green-gold. This leaf is mostly used in making bidis. After collecting tendu leaves from the trees, it is dried. After this it is stored, to keep tendu leaves in one place, collection centers have also been set up by the government.
