On the occasion of 162nd birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, Chhattisgarh Vidhansabha Speaker Dr. Charandas Mahant unveiled his statue and laid the foundation stone of Tagore Vatika Museum at District Hospital Complex, Gorela on Sunday. Addressing the guests and the general public present in the program, Dr. Mahant said that Rabindranath Tagore was a great person. His memory is attached to this area.
In fact, he had come to the sanatorium in September 1902 for the treatment of TB disease of his wife Mrinani Devi. He spent a lot of time in getting his wife healthy but the treatment of the wife could not be done and she died here. To keep alive the memory of Tagore ji, his statue was unveiled today. Along with this, the foundation stone of Tagore Vatika and Museum was also laid. Dr. Mahant said that the soul of Tagore ji will always bless the people of the area.
Asia’s first Nobel laureate
Dr. Mahant said that Rabindranath Tagore had given Gandhi the title of ‘Mahatma’. Tagore ji is a world famous poet, litterateur, philosopher and Nobel laureate of Indian literature. He is also known as Gurudev. He was the visionary who breathed new life into the Indian cultural consciousness through Bangla literature. He is the first Nobel laureate of Asia.
Dr. Chittaranjan Kar gave a wonderful presentation of Rabindra Sangeet
On this occasion, linguist and musicologist Dr. Chittaranjan Kar gave a brilliant presentation of Rabindra Sangeet on the birth anniversary of poet Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore in the series of Bisahu Das Mahant Ji’s Birth Centenary Year Celebrations, courtesy of Indian Cultural Fund. For this, Dr. Mahant thanked Dr. Chittaranjan Kar and his team. He also thanked Collector Priyanka Rishi Mahobia and SP Yogesh Patel for completing the programs as per their promise.
