Raipur- Two sisters were gang-raped on the day of Rakshabandhan in Mandir Hasaud of the capital Raipur. This incident shook the entire state. It is worth mentioning that, on Thursday night, the miscreants committed the crime by blocking the way of two real sisters returning after celebrating Raksha Bandhan festival. As soon as the incident was reported, the police took action and arrested 10 accused. It is being told that the main accused in the gang rape is the son of BJP Mandal Vice President Lakshminarayan Singh and many cases are already registered against him. This incident took place in Mandir Hasaud police station area.

According to the information received, late at night two sisters and a boy were returning to Raipur via Bhansoj after celebrating Rakshabandhan festival. All three of them were riding a scooty. Then a group of brutes blocked the road near RIMS College. First, they threatened to kill him and took away his purse, money and mobile phone. Then four more people came there by bike. They beat up the young man who was with the girls and forcibly took both the girls away from there on a bike and raped them.

The applicant lodged a report at Mandir Hasaud police station late night. After this, SSP Prashant Aggarwal sent his team to the spot and directed to arrest the accused. Police have arrested 10 accused from different places.

The main accused Poonam Thakur is a habitual criminal. A total of 5 cases are registered against this in Mandir Hasaud police station and Arang. In the year 2019, Raipur police arrested him in the murder case and sent him to jail. In the year 2022, he was once again sent to jail in a rape case. He was released on bail on 17 August 2023 and has again committed the crime. At present, the police have started taking further action after recovering the looted mobiles and goods.
