Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday participated in the launching ceremony of ‘Nasha Mukt Chhattisgarh Abhiyan’ organized by Prajapita Brahmakumari Ishwariya Vishwavidyalaya at Shanti Sarovar located in the capital Raipur. During this, CM Baghel has given a statement regarding the drug-free Chhattisgarh campaign. He said that in 2018 there was pressure from women to ban liquor. It was in his meeting, we also announced it. There is a demand for prohibition even in meetings, but this is not only the responsibility of the government. Being the Chief Minister, I can close all liquor shops today itself, but will this solve the problem? Mr. Baghel said that people were arranging liquor during the months of lockdown, but if nothing was found, they drank sanitisers. Then I did not have the courage to declare prohibition. If the addict is alive then there is hope of improvement, if he dies then there is no option.
CM Bhupesh said that women raise both hands on prohibition, but remain silent on Gudakhu. Addiction begins in childhood or youth. The bitterness of life further increases it. I welcome the drug free campaign. The government will give full support to the campaign of Prajapita Brahmakumaris. There should be a drug free society.
Shivraj Singh moves less, speaks more
Bhupesh Baghel has retaliated on Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s statement that dacoity and Naxalite incidents have ended in MP, but have increased in Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. He said that Shivraj Singh roams less and speaks more. There is pressure on the Naxalites, so they have gone towards Kanha. Naxalites are entering Madhya Pradesh, they are saying the opposite. Naxalite leaders and commanders come to Chhattisgarh to hide.

Law cannot fix social evils: Sharma
On the other hand, Congress MLA Satyanarayan Sharma, who came to participate in the drug-free campaign program, said that it is very important for Chhattisgarh to be drug-free. Young children are becoming addicted to solutions, drugs etc. Liquor ban is necessary here too. Next to my house, 3 people died after drinking alcohol. Liquor has been banned in 5 states, but is still easily available. Social evils cannot be cured by law. Drug addiction can be got rid of by campaign and awareness.
