This temple, situated on the confluence of Shankhini and Dankini river, was built in the 11th century. Every year a large number of devotees reach here on the occasion of Navratri to have a darshan of the Mother Goddess.
Actually, this temple of Maa Danteshwari, the adorable goddess of Bastar, is a major center of faith and belief. It is said that the tooth of Goddess Sati had fallen at this place, due to which the city got its name Dantewada. The temple of Danteshwari, one of the 52 Shaktipeeths, is situated on the banks of the confluence of the Shankhini and Dankini rivers in the district headquarters of Dantewada. Preparations completed for Chaitra Navratri
In view of Chaitra Navratri, the temple committee and administration have completed the preparations. The temple is decorated in a special way.
