Raipur. The festival of Chhath was celebrated with full enthusiasm this morning in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. A large number of women reached the pond and worshiped Lord Surya and offered water to him. Regarding Chhath, CM Bhupesh Baghel tweeted and wished the people of the state.
‘Chhath’ is an important festival of Hindu religion. This fast is observed to pray for the long life of children, healthy life of husband and happiness and good fortune of the family. Today is the third day of the four-day Chhath festival. Shakuntala Vishwakarma, president of Vishwakarma Mahila Samaj, resident of Carpentaria, said that today, Sunday, November 19, 2023, Chhath fasting people offered Arghya to the setting sun in the Aama pond, hence it is called Sandhya Arghya. Today a large number of women, girls and men of the society were present. Chhath Mahaparva is celebrated from Chaturthi Tithi to Saptami Tithi of Kartik Shukla. This year Chhath festival is from 17 to 20 November 2023.
Women observe waterless fast for 36 hours
In the capital today, on Shashthi Tithi, 19th November, Arghya was offered to the setting sun and on 20th November, Chhath fast will be concluded by offering Arghya to the rising sun in the morning. On the occasion of Chhath festival, the devotee observes a waterless fast for 36 hours and also follows strict rules. Therefore, Chhath is considered one of the most difficult fasts. Chhath festival is celebrated all over the country. Today is the third day of Chhath fast and evening Arghya is given. Offering Arghya to the Sun God at the right time in Chhath Puja gives the fruits of the fast. Today on this occasion Ashok Devi Jain, Neha Vishwakarma, Gunja Vishwakarma, Maya Vishwakarma, Kalavati Vishwakarma, Durga Vishwakarma, Mandakini Vishwakarma, Pinky Vishwakarma Jain, Pihu, Rukmani Singh, Sonia Anchal, Alisha, Omprakash, Ayush, etc. were present.
