Bharatmala stopped registry of dozens of villages
Nitin Singh Rajput-Rajnandgaon. The Central Government has proposed construction of a four-lane expressway from Raipur to Hyderabad under the Bharatmala Project in Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh. For this, purchase and sale of land has been banned in dozens of villages of Rajnandgaon and MMC districts since a year ago. The committee has only approved the alignment work between Raipur and Hyderabad for the expressway.

The maintenance work for the expressway has not been completed yet. In such a situation, this project is progressing slower than a tortoise and farmers and needy people of the restricted villages are not able to sell their land. Due to this decision of the government and administration, anger has started growing among the people of the restricted villages. The Central Government has given the green signal for the construction of expressway corridor from Raipur to Hyderabad. Under this project, the initial form of alignment has also been approved by the Land Acquisition Committee, Government of India, New Delhi on 17 October 2022. After this approval, the district administration has banned the purchase and sale of land in the villages falling under the road passing through Chinhakint village. Following the instructions of the administration for the last one year, the registry of dozens of villages of Rajnandgaon and MMC district has been banned.
There is a ban on buying and selling of land for one year
According to information received from sources, the alignment work has not started yet under the Bharatmala project. The slow progress of the project has become a cause of trouble for the villagers commuting along the proposed expressway. There has been a ban on the purchase and sale of land in dozens of villages of Rajnandgaon, Dongargaon, Chhuria development block and Mohla and Chowki development block of Manpur Chowki district under Rajnandgaon district for the last one year. Due to the ban, needy villagers are not able to sell their land. Villagers say that there should be a ban on the area through which the expressway will pass, but the administration has put a ban on the land of the entire village. Due to which, they are not able to sell the land for marriage and other important purposes.
Alignment work not done
The initial work on the corridor from Raipur to Hyderabad proposed under the Bharatmala project is very slow. This project has been in discussion since a year ago, but due to departmental and administrative delay, the alignment work has not been done yet. Only after alignment will the further action plan be decided and it will be known how much land will go from which village.
Anger started growing among the villagers
Due to the ban on registration in the identified villages for the last one year, there is a lot of anger among the villagers living there. Due to lack of purchase and sale of land, many works of the villagers are being affected. The villagers have demanded from the administration that the ban should be removed from the registry of the entire village and a ban should be placed on the purchase and sale of the land through which the road will pass.
