Soma Sharma-Navapara. Abhanpur Assembly voting was completed peacefully. No untoward situation was created anywhere in the polling stations of Navapara Nagar. But the reason for the chaos that prevailed in the polling stations throughout the day came to light in the last phase of voting in the evening. Both the nodal and assistant officers, who were assigned duty in all the centers of the city, were seen missing from their main election duties.

Officials remained absent at the polling station

A total of 23 polling stations were set up in Navapara under the municipality. For the responsibility of making arrangements, Assistant Engineer Anup Soni and Revenue Inspector Nikhil Chandrakar posted in the Municipality of Navapara were appointed Nodal Officer and Assistant Nodal Officer respectively. The Model Code of Conduct was openly violated by both the officers. Both the officers were seen missing from their duty on the election day of 17th November, both the officers were resting at home. Due to which there was chaos at various polling booths in the city.

Action will be taken, have been suspended in the past too – CMO Santosh Vishwakarma

During the conversation, CMO Santosh Vishwakarma told that, 3 people were put on duty from the municipality, out of which 2 are missing, this information has been given in the elections. Along with those present, he himself is going to the polling centers and taking care of the arrangements. Both the employees missing from election duty have already gone through suspension proceedings in their former work areas Mahasamund and Dhamtari.
