Special Story – Poornima Mandal / Raipur. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has taken a major decision in the interest of farmers. He has now announced to buy 20 quintals of paddy per acre instead of 15 quintals per acre on the support price from the farmers. Farmers of Bilaspur district are happy with the decision to increase paddy procurement from 15 to 20 quintals per acre. Welcoming the decision, he said that now there will be no compulsion to sell the extra paddy at throwaway prices. The farmers said that after all the Chief Minister understood the pain of the farmer. Everyone thanked the Chief Minister repeatedly and thanked him in one voice.
Chhattisgarh is the only state to take such a decision
Santosh Kumar Kaushik, a farmer living in Bahtarai under Sakri tehsil of Bilaspur district, termed this announcement as a big decision taken in the interest of the farmers. He told that he cultivates in two acres and produces about 40 quintals of paddy. After 15 quintals, the rest of the paddy had to be sold at the rate of 1200-1300 quintals in the market at one and a quarter price. With this decision of CM Baghel, we will get additional income of 20 to 25 thousand rupees per quintal. Expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister, he said that Chhattisgarh is the only state in the country where such a decision has been taken in the interest of the farmers. Along with this, Manharan Lal Nirmalkar of Ameri village told that he has five acres of land. Describing this decision as beneficial for the farmers, he expressed his gratitude to the CM.
Farmers used to suffer big loss
Similarly, Kala Bai of Nirtu village said that many schemes are being run by the state government for the betterment of the farmers from the beginning and with this announcement, they have given another big gift to us farmers. Now we will not have the compulsion to sell our paddy at the price of the remaining paddy produce. For this, on behalf of the farmers, we thank the state chief Bhupesh Baghel. Lakshmi Prasad Kaushik, another farmer of Bahtarai told that he does farming in two and a half acres of land. He told that the extra paddy had to be sold at a very low price. Sometimes we could not even find a buyer. Due to this we used to suffer financial loss. With the installment of the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana given by the government, we are able to raise our children and celebrate all our festivals well. He thanked the Chief Minister. Expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister, Badriprasad, a resident of Chichirda of Takhatpur block, termed it as a big decision taken in the interest of the farmers.
Now the farmers of Chhattisgarh will be prosperous
Significantly, till now 15 quintals of paddy per acre was procured from the registered farmers on the support price. Now after the Chief Minister’s announcement, 20 quintal paddy per acre will be procured from the Kharif marketing year 2023-24. Farmer Dinesh Sahu of village Singhanpuri said that this decision will benefit the farmers and their economic condition will also improve. After selling 15 quintals, the remaining paddy had to be sold outside at a lower price, causing huge losses to us. He has thanked the Chief Minister for announcing the purchase of 20 quintal paddy per acre. Praveen Singh said that he is very happy with the daily new decisions of CM Mr. Baghel. He told that earlier he was able to sell 300 quintals of paddy from his 20 acres of land at the support price. But now after the announcement of the Chief Minister, he will sell 400 quintals of paddy. Young farmer Thakur Ram Sahu told that earlier there used to be a deal of loss in agriculture, but due to the farmer-friendly decision of the Chief Minister, now farming is getting more profit and farmers’ interest in farming has also increased.
Now farmers will be able to sell their entire produce
Farmers of Sarangarh-Bilaigarh district are also very happy with the decision to buy 15 to 20 quintals of paddy. Umashankar Patel, a farmer of Hichha village of Sarangarh development block, said that I am very happy with this decision of the state government. Paddy is grown for 25 to 35 quintals. Our paddy used to be saved due to the limit of sale when paddy was more, now we can sell extra whole paddy. Farmer Anand Ram Nishad, a resident of village Bhedwan, is happy with this decision of the government. He said that the government’s decision has benefited both in the sale of paddy and bonus. Farmer Bodhiram Chauhan of village Kutela said that the government has increased the limit of paddy from 15 to 20 quintals per acre. Well done. Farmer Laxman Patel of village Madhopali said that this decision of the government is very good. Sahniram Nishad, a farmer of Tilaimuda village, expressed happiness over the government’s decision.
Farmers expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister
Similarly, Duryodhan Patel, a farmer of Sakartunga village of Barmakela development block, expressed happiness that he used to sell 80 quintals of paddy every year. Now I can sell 100 quintals of paddy. I am very happy with this decision of the government. Farmer Raju Patel of village Gobarsinga said that he is happy with the announcement of CM Baghel. The Chief Minister has been taking decisions in the interest of the farmers. This decision will encourage farmers to grow crops other than paddy. He has thanked the Chief Minister.
