He has now announced to buy 20 quintals of paddy per acre instead of 15 quintals per acre on the support price from the farmers. Farmers of Bilaspur district are happy with the decision to increase paddy procurement from 15 to 20 quintals per acre. Welcoming the decision, he said that now there will be no compulsion to sell the extra paddy at throwaway prices. The farmers said that after all the Chief Minister understood the pain of the farmer. Chhattisgarh is the only state to take such a decision

Santosh Kumar Kaushik, a farmer living in Bahtarai under Sakri tehsil of Bilaspur district, termed this announcement as a big decision taken in the interest of the farmers. He told that he cultivates in two acres and produces about 40 quintals of paddy. After 15 quintals, the rest of the paddy had to be sold at the rate of 1200-1300 quintals in the market at one and a quarter price. Farmers used to suffer big loss

After selling 15 quintals, the remaining paddy had to be sold outside at a lower price, causing huge losses to us. He told that earlier he was able to sell 300 quintals of paddy from his 20 acres of land at the support price. Now I can sell 100 quintals of paddy. I am very happy with this decision of the government. Farmer Raju Patel of village Gobarsinga said that he is happy with the announcement of CM Baghel.
