Here, after stealing an iron bridge weighing 500 tonnes in Rohtas, the thieves have committed another major incident. Thieves have now made the entire train engine (Train Engine Theft) disappear by making a tunnel. According to the police (Bihar Police), train engine parts were found in a bag recovered from a junk shop in Muzaffarpur.
According to the police, last week a gang had stolen the complete diesel engine of a train which was brought for repair at Garhara yard in Barauni (District Begusarai). The gang achieved this by stealing parts a few at a time. This came to light when police arrested 3 people and based on their information they seized 13 gunny bags of engine parts from a scrap godown located at Prabhat Colony, Muzaffarpur.
A senior police officer said that the shocking thing was that we found a tunnel near the yard, through which thieves used to come and steal engine parts and take them away in gunny bags. Railway officials were completely unaware of this. Police has registered the case and started investigation.
Let us tell you that recently in Purnia district where thieves sold a complete vintage meter gauge steam engine, which was kept at the local railway station for public display. On further investigation, the police found that a railway engineer had sold the classic steam engine on the basis of a forged letter issued by the Divisional Mechanical Engineer of Samastipur Division.
