WTC Points Table: New Zealand crushes South Africa, India and Australia fall in just 2 days, big change in the points table

New Delhi. New Zealand’s cricket team has got a big advantage by defeating South Africa by 281 runs in the first test. The Kiwi team has come to the first place in the rankings of the World Test Championship. After this victory, New Zealand has 66.66 percentage points. This is New Zealand’s second win in three Tests in the World Test Championship (2023-25). Kiwi team has lost one match.

India and Australia have suffered losses due to this victory of New Zealand. After defeating England in the Visakhapatnam Test, India moved from fifth to second in the World Test Championship points table while Australia was on top. But, after the victory of Kiwi team, there has been a change in the top-three. Now New Zealand is at first position, Australia is at second and Indian team is at third position.

India has 52.77 percentage points after 3 wins, 2 losses and one draw in 6 matches. At the same time, Australia has 55 percentage points in its account after 6 wins and three losses in 10 tests. Bangladesh is at fourth position and Pakistan is at fifth position. After losing the first test to New Zealand, South Africa’s team has fallen to 7th position.

New Zealand had scored 511 runs in the first innings of the first Test against South Africa. In response, the South African team was bundled out for 162 runs in the first innings. New Zealand declared the second innings at 178 runs at the loss of 4 wickets and South Africa was all out for 247 runs in the fourth innings.

New Zealand’s young all-rounder had scored a double century in the match. Whereas, former captain Kane Williamson had scored centuries in both the innings. Rachin was named player of the match for scoring a double century.
