Wrestlers Protest Live: Farmers broke barricade at Jantar Mantar, created ruckus

The demonstration of wrestlers continues at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. Several wrestlers, including Olympic medalists Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat, are protesting against the sexual harassment case against Wrestling Federation of India President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. To support the Wrestlers Protest, the process of farmers and khap panchayats from neighboring states including Haryana and UP reaching Delhi’s Jantar Mantar has started since last Sunday. Police has barricaded all the borders connected to Delhi and vehicles are being given entry only after checking. On Monday, another group of farmers reached Jantar Mantar and they broke the barricading done by the police.

A group of farmers, who were on their way to support the wrestlers protesting against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh at Jantar Mantar, broke the barricades put up by the police. According to media reports, the group was in a hurry to reach the picket site, in which some of them climbed over the barricades which were brought down and removed. Police has appealed to keep the atmosphere peaceful and follow the law.

Farmer leader Abhimanyu Kohar said the protest will be peaceful

Farmer leader Abhimanyu Kohar said that the strike would continue peacefully under the leadership of the wrestlers. Wrestlers who brought laurels to the world by winning medals for the country, today have to protest to get justice. He said that it is the responsibility of all the people to support the wrestlers and encourage them. Government of India should take action against the President of Wrestling Federation of India. Also said that he has full faith in law and order.
