New Delhi. While the first Test between India and England is being played in Hyderabad, on the other hand, the second unofficial Test was played between India A and England Lions in Ahmedabad. India-A won this four-day test by a margin of innings and 16 runs.
Saurabh Kumar took five wickets in the second innings. Whereas, Sarfaraz Khan had scored 161 runs in the first innings. Sarfaraz was chosen player of the match for this innings.
England Lions won the toss and chose to bat first in this match. England Lions team was all out for 152 runs in the first innings. Akash Deep took maximum 4 wickets from India-A side. In response, thanks to the innings of Sarfaraz Khan 161 and Devdutt Padikkal’s 105 runs, India-A had scored 489 runs in the first innings. In this respect, India-A had a lead of 337 runs over England Lions in terms of first innings.
India A beats Lions by an innings and 16 runs
At the end of the third day’s play, England Lions’ score was 304 runs at the loss of 8 wickets and they were 33 runs behind India with only two wickets left. On Saturday, the fourth day of the match, the England Lions team could only add 17 more runs to yesterday’s score and both its batsmen returned to the pavilion.
Arshdeep Singh and Yash Dayal dismissed the last two remaining batsmen. In this way India-A won the match by an innings and 16 runs. With this India-A took 1-0 lead in the series.
England Lions could only add 17 runs on the fourth day
Durham wicketkeeper batsman Ollie Robinson was the best batsman for the Lions on the third day, scoring 84 not out. But on the fourth day, he could add only one run to his night’s score and was caught out on the ball of Arshdeep. Tom Laws, who came in to bat at number 11, could last less than three overs before the last wicket fell, which meant India A did not have to bat again. The final match of this series will be played in Ahmedabad from 1st February.
