Punjab News: Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab has announced to increase the price of sugarcane today on Friday. CM Bhagwant Mann himself has given this information on social media platform X (Twitter). He said that Rs 11 is a good omen for the sugarcane farmers of Punjab. With this, farmers will now get the price of their sugarcane at Rs 391 per quintal. Which is the highest in the country. Apart from this, CM Mann has announced crushing season in all the cooperative and private mills of the state from 2nd December i.e. tomorrow. Let us tell you that the farmers of Punjab were agitating to increase the price of sugarcane. After this, CM Mann, while talking to the leaders of farmers’ organizations, had given assurance of increasing the price of sugarcane. Which has been announced today. However, the farmers have not liked the promise of only Rs 11 from the Punjab government.

Farmers were demanding an increase of Rs 70 per quintal

Let us tell you that the national highway and railway track in Jalandhar was blocked for several days demanding increase in sugarcane prices by Rs 70 per quintal. After which the CM had assured the farmers of good news in the coming days. After getting assurance from the CM, the farmers ended their protest. CM Mann announced increase in sugarcane rates after 90 minutes of talks with farmer leaders.

Highest price of sugarcane is available in Punjab

CM Mann further said that the Punjab government is giving the highest price for sugarcane in the entire country, due to which the farmers are getting huge benefits. Mann said that in the recent meeting with the farmers, he had promised that Punjab will be the leader in the country in terms of sugarcane price and today this promise has been fulfilled. CM said that the Punjab government has always been the first in giving sugarcane price to the farmers producing sugarcane and this trend will continue in future also.

The strike ended on CM Mann’s proposal for talks.

It is noteworthy that farmers were staging ‘dharna’ in Jalandhar-Phagwara area demanding increase in SAP of sugarcane from Rs 380 to Rs 450 per quintal. They were also demanding resumption of operation of sugar mills for crushing sugarcane. However, the Punjab government immediately said that we are ready to hold talks with the farmer leaders. After this the farmers ended their protest.

Farmers did not like the omen of Rs 11

However, farmers are not happy after this announcement of Punjab Government. Farmer groups held a meeting in Jalandhar and said that on the confidence of the CM, the protest in Jalandhar was lifted. But the Chief Minister increased only Rs 11 in the name of Shagun, Shagun is also worth Rs 21 and 51. He said that the last time the farmers had struggled, the then Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had increased the rates by Rs 50. Farmers said that due to the four-day strike, farmers suffered losses, people also had to face problems and the increase was only Rs 11, which is not acceptable to us.
