�New SPG Director Alok Sharma: Senior IPS officer Alok Sharma has been appointed as the Director of Special Protection Group (SPG) on Friday. He has been entrusted with the task of providing security to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Alok Sharma is a 1991 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer. He is currently Additional Director General in the Government of India. An order issued by the Personnel Ministry said that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Alok Sharma as Director of SPG with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post till further orders. Let us tell you that after the demise of SPG chief Arun Kumar Sinha on September 6 this year, it became necessary to fill this vacancy.
