Sunil Gavaskar: India’s great cricketer Sunil Gavaskar had to go to Kanpur from Visakhapatnam on Friday after the death of his mother-in-law. Gavaskar was commentating in the second test between India and England, but he had to leave the commentary midway and go to Kanpur. The former captain flew home on the first day of the Test match. Sunil Gavaskar was going to Kanpur on Friday afternoon to meet his wife Marshneil Gavaskar and his family.

Was doing commentary in Dhaka during the death of his mother.

Veteran cricketer Gavaskar is working as a commentator and cricket expert these days. The former captain was part of the host broadcasters’ commentary panel during the first Test in Hyderabad. He had resumed his duties with the broadcast team in Visakhapatnam on Friday before learning about his mother-in-law’s demise. In 2022 itself, Sunil Gavaskar’s mother Meena Gavaskar died at the age of 95. At that time Sunil was doing commentary in Dhaka.

Talking about Gavaskar’s performance in international cricket, he has scored 10,122 runs in 214 innings of 125 Tests at an average of 51.12. During this period he has scored 45 half-centuries and 34 centuries. His highest score in this format is 236* runs. Apart from this, he has scored 3092 runs in 102 innings of 108 ODIs. During this period, his average was 35.13 and strike rate was 62.26. Gavaskar has 27 half-centuries and 1 century in his name in ODIs. In the past he has also been the BCCI President.
